The Complete Beginner’s Guide to TAL BassLine 101 TAL BassLine 101 is a virtual synthesizer that emulates the classic Roland SH-101. It is famous for its warm, squelchy analog sound and simple layout. This guide will help you understand its controls and make your first bass patch. Interface Breakdown

The plugin layout copies the original hardware workflow. Signal flows from left to right. 1. Source Mixer Saw: Adds a bright, buzzing waveform. Pulse: Adds a hollow, woody tone. PWM: Controls the width of the pulse wave. Sub Osc: Adds a deep sub-bass one or two octaves lower. Noise: Adds white noise for percussion or texture. 2. Filter (VCF) Freq: Controls the cutoff frequency to adjust brightness. Res: Adds a sharp boost at the cutoff point. Env: Determines how much the envelope shapes the filter. Mod: Determines how much the LFO modulates the filter. Kybd: Controls how much the filter opens with higher notes. 3. Envelope (VCA) Gate: Notes play at a constant volume when pressed.

Env: Volume follows the Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release sliders. A, D, S, R: Shapes the volume curve over time. Creating Your First Bass Patch Follow these steps to create a classic, punchy bassline: Click the Preset menu and choose “Reset” to start fresh.
